Tantalized

Scent of health… cucumbers

Touch of familiarity… a sharp yellow No. 2 pencil in my hand

Sight of hope… a sincere embrace of reconciliation

Taste of comfort… cold chocolate milk

Sound of relief… husband’s key turning the lock to come in

Scent of comfort… lit candles

Touch of relief… binding of a longed-for book in my hand

Sight of health… a new born baby’s lips

Taste of familiarity… Schlotzsky’s Original sandwich

Sound of hope… my children laughing

Scent of hope… the wetness of a clear morning after a night of rain

Touch of comfort… husband’s hand on the small of my back

Sight of familiarity… the faces of my friends

Taste of relief… cool water

Sound of health… rhythmic thud of tennis shoes on the ground

What is tantalizing your senses?

i concur with danielle - i enjoyed the creative way you wrote this.

the smell of coffee brewing
the taste of homemade meatballs and sauce
the sight of a field of black-faced sheep
the sound of soft rain on my tin roof
the feel of a loved one near

Thanks girls. :-)

Danielle - another Schlotzsky's fan!!! Yay!

Alece - it would seem that the field of balck-faced sheep has a story behind it. I am curious to know what emotion that stirs for you...

Thanks for participating girls - these are awesome.

This really was very good - full of 'color.' I like it.

Sights - blue skies, green trees, familiar faces.

Sounds - music that makes me sway, hubby's voice when I've had a long day, birds chirping for spring

Tastes - Raspberries; That magical combination of garlic, salt, parmesan cheese, and tomato; Nearly any fresh, ripe fruit.

Smells - Fresh mint (bunched, with my face buried in it), skin, fresh air

Feels - Anything soft and silky, water, skin (sorry to use it twice, but it really is).

Thanks, Angie!

Annie - I love Raspberries!!! I am going to have to try burying my face in a bunch of fresh mint, sounds lovely.

Thank YOU. :-)

coming from new york, sometimes i am still awed by the fact that i live in a country that is... well... so... country. sometimes i just have to shake my head as i drive by fields of cows, sheep, corn, or hay bales to get out to our base. not normally my thing, but i work hard at seeing the joy in it.

i love black-faced sheep. i think they have more personality and character than the "normal" ones that surround our base. but recently one of the local farms acquired some... so every-now-and-again on my drive to/from town, i see a field of black-faced sheep. and it makes me smile.

PLUS -- a friend and i once ran through a field, amid rain and hail, to chase sheep (of the normal variety). and we now use sheep as a term of endearment of sorts... so in general, i seem to have an affinity toward sheep.

Licita -
Ah - now I understand. Cool.

I am a Cornhusker (Nebraskan), born and raised. The metropolitan city I grew up in was surrounded by fields and farms and country. I still love all things country, even though it is familiar to me.

Here in Cochabamba there are shepherdesses who bring their sheep to the public parks to graze. So you will see a child swinging next to a bunch of sheep on a busy street right in the middle of the city. And we have just shy of a million people here. Pretty wild.

Thanks for filling us in.

i've never been to nebraska. maybe someday.

that's so crazy about the sheep in the city!

Arlington is about 30 miles from Omaha (home town of DaRonn and me), not far at all.

One of the things on my 'bucket list' (fun/touching movie if you get a chance to see it) is go to New York.

someday...

One of our grocery stores here sells bunches of fresh herbs. Mint is one of them. Every time I shop I have to scrunch the leaves (releases the oils) and bury my face in it and inhale. I love it! The smell is amazing, and the effect is incredible. It feels like an instant stress reliever and lung clearer. Hard to describe. Feels like heaven. I should have mint plants growing all over my house. :) mmmmmmm..... How nice would that be?

Some of my favorite:

Touches: kissing newborn babies' lips, snuggling with my hubby under the covers, Joe rubbing my feet with lotion whenever we watch a movie at home, hugs from friends

Tastes: popcorn, candy and a Coke at the movie (a treat I didn't get in the States); a Baja Fresh burrito; chocolate dipped strawberries; Carmel Macchiato at Starbucks

Smells: baby shampoo, candles burning, juniper, fresia, cinnamon rolls in the oven, green apples

Sounds: praying with other ladies, my littles playing together, the teens laughing together

Sights: look on my kids' faces whenever they give my handpicked flowers, handwritten letters, or hand-drawn pictures; new email from old friends, my honey's face whenever I've been away from him (even for an hour); the amazing healing that God is doing on Patience's forehead

Annie - you should populate your place with mint plants...

Denise - Wow what a great list; thank you for sharing. I didn't do treats at the movies in the States either; come to think of it we didn't go out to the movies but maybe three times when we were in the States. It is amazing what a little dose of relativity frees you up to do. ... I am glad to know that sweet little Patience's forehead is healing.
